Volunteer Spotlight

Volunteering her time, in many ways

Eva Wertman first became acquainted with Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House at the 2010 Philadelphia magazine Design Home event.  PRMH was the beneficiary, and Eva was touring the House, in particular checking out the featured Anthony & Sylvan swimming pool – which her husband helped build!

Eager to get involved, soon after her encounter with of a few Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House volunteers who were assisting at Design Home, Eva reached out to the volunteer director to see how she could help.  From a front desk volunteer at the Front and Erie House, to a Camp counselor at Ronald McDonald Camp, Eva has helped the House in so many ways since she first started volunteering in 2010.

Eva works for a small travel agency and also volunteers at her local hospital; St. Mary’s and has served on the board.  Although Eva is very busy with work, and her other volunteer endeavors, she always makes time to volunteer with the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

Fellow volunteers, and PRMH staff would describe Eva as a very charismatic volunteer who is always looking for ways to help out at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, and support the families that the organization serves.  One skill that Eva has brought to her volunteer experience at Front and Erie is her ability to speak Spanish.  Her bilingual abilities allow her to communicate with our Spanish speaking guests at Front and Erie – helping them feel even more at home.

To anyone considering a volunteer opportunity with the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, Eva would say this:  “Jump in and just do it, without a second thought!”   Eva shared that she loves volunteering her time at the Front and Erie House, and has made some of her favorite memories at the Ronald McDonald Camp. When asked how long she intends to continue volunteering with the House she stated: “I can’t imagine ever stopping”.

We would like to thank Eva and the over 300 volunteers that keep the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House running 365 days a year!
