Guest ChefS

Thank you for your interest in providing a meal for our families. Our Guest Chef Program is a volunteer opportunity that enriches the daily lives of all who stay at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. Your group will help relieve one worry for our families by providing a hearty, nutritious meal.  See below for details about Guest Chef opportunities at both of our Houses.

CHESTNUT STREET HOUSE MEALS

15 volunteers maximum, including adults and youth age 16 years and older

Dinners
Serve 150 people at 6:00 pm
7 days/week
3:00 pm to 8:00 pm shift

Weekend Breakfasts
Serve 65 people at 9:00 am
Saturdays or Sundays
7:30 am to 11:00 am shift

We’ve taken the guesswork out of feeding the growing number of families at the Chestnut Street House. Our Food Services Manager purchases ingredients for all meals so groups do not have to worry about shopping for and storing bulk food to feed 150+ people. Everything is onsite when Guest Chefs and Meals-To-Go groups arrive to cook seasonal, made-from-scratch meals for the families. Teams reimburse the House $150 to $400 for the cost of ingredients.

FRONT & ERIE HOUSE MEALS

10 volunteers maximum, including adults and youth age 12 years and older

Dinners
Serve 40 people at 6:00 pm
7 days/week
3:00 pm to 8:00 pm shift

Weekend Breakfasts
Serve 25 people at 9:00 am
Saturdays or Sundays
8:15 am to 11:00 am shift

The Guest Chef program at the Front & Erie House has not changed. Groups continue to purchase ingredients independently to prepare meals in our kitchen for the families.

Our kitchen is fully equipped with stoves, pots, pans, serving dishes, utensils, dinner ware and beverages.
We ask that you provide the ingredients, and we will provide the rest.

Prepare whatever you wish, just be sure to include:

  • Salad
  • At least 1 meat entrée
  • A vegetarian entrée
  • 2 to 3 side dishes
  • Dessert

You can be creative or keep it simple. It is up to you!

Whichever way you choose to participate in this program, please know that you are providing a valuable service for the families staying at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House each day. Families often don’t have the extra time, resources, or energy to prepare or purchase a meal. Coming home after an exhausting day at the hospital to a fully prepared meal can make a huge difference in a family’s day.

We look forward to having you join us in our kitchen. To sign up or for more information, contact Lori-Anne Miller.
