Become a Guest Chef

Thank you for your interest in preparing a meal for our families. Our Guest Chef Program is a volunteer opportunity that enriches the daily life of all who stay at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

Your group of up to 10 people will help relieve one worry for our families by providing a dinner or weekend breakfast. Dedicated groups of volunteers provide meals for our families every single evening of the year, as well as breakfast on the weekends. Families, co-workers, school clubs, restaurant staff, civic organizations, and many other groups have all joined together to make home-cooked meals for our families.

Dinners should serve 70 to 75 individuals at Chestnut Street, and 35 to 40 at Front & Erie, and be prepared by 6 p.m. Breakfasts should serve 40 to 50 at Chestnut Street and 20 to 25 at Front & Erie and be ready by 9:00 a.m. Our kitchen is fully equipped; all we ask is that you provide the food, and we will provide the rest. Prepare whatever you wish, just be sure to have salad, a main entree (please include a vegetarian option), side dishes, and a dessert. You can be creative or keep it simple, prepare the meal before you come or cook entirely in our kitchen. It is up to you.

Whichever way you choose to participate in this program, know that you are providing a service for the families staying at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House each day. These families often don’t have the extra time, resources, or energy to prepare or purchase a meal. Coming home after an exhausting day at the hospital to a fully prepared meal can make a huge difference in a family’s day.

We also accept commercially catered meals for our Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Sponsored meals for at this location cannot be prepared on site and must be delivered ready for consumption.

We look forward to having you join us in our kitchen. To sign up or for more information, contact Lori-Anne Miller.
